6 (6) SALUKIS
Mike Zunino is on a disturbing slide, doing worse in our roto player metric in each of the last three weeks.

JonathanVillar090218Photo by USATSIColt 45s got the league’s top stolen base performance this week from Jonathan Villar. Villar stole all five of Colt 45s‘ stolen bases. His performance this week stopped his three game streak of not meeting his projections. His performance pushed Colt 45s from 12th to 11th in the stolen bases standings.

On the Rise

KyleGibson061719Photo by USATSIDEADWOODS’s 10th place wins ranking back in week five is a distant memory these days. They moved into 2nd place this week after winning 4 games. Coaches Francis Bujak and Guy Mawhinney’s squad got a nice group performance in that category, as four players beat the league average. Kyle Gibson was the first among equals, winning 1 game.

Bringin’ It

MiguelSano041016Photo by USATSITEABAGGERS had themselves a fine week in the RBIs category, producing 41 of them. They had two main stars in Miguel Sano and Mookie Betts, who together put up 20 RBIs. Betts already has five career three home run games after this performance Friday against the Yankees. TEABAGGERS were now out of the basement, no longer dead last in the RBIs standings.

Remember the Good Times

DEADZONES might have become a little complacent after their big 17 home run performance last week. They just couldn’t get it going in the HRs department, recording only 7 HRs. Coach Stetz’s squad suffered from nine zeros in that category, one of which came from Dustin Garneau, who also hit .000 and tallied 0 RBIs. No surprise then, DEADZONES fell from 3rd to 4th in the HRs standings, 1 HR behind SCHNOOKERS. DEADZONES also fell from 6th to 8th in the overall rankings.

What a Week!

SPACE COWBOYS showed, once again, how it’s supposed to be done this week. They topped all other teams for the week, earning 72.5 category points. Coach Denton’s squad won the week in RBIs and home runs after putting up 54 RBIs and 21 HRs, while also finishing in 3rd in stolen bases. SPACE COWBOYS stayed in 3rd place in the overall standings this week.

AlbertPujols090317Photo by USATSIAlbert Pujols hadn’t had a big game in the batting average category since week nine’s .438 BA performance. This week finally brought about another big effort. The Machine batted .529 while leading DEADWOODS to a .267 BA overall. His batting average performance this week stopped his six week streak of not meeting the league average in that category. Nevertheless, DEADWOODS stayed in 10th place in the batting average standings, .001 BA behind SPACE COWBOYS. DEADWOODS fell from 6th to 7th in the overall rankings.

Producing the Goods

GeorgeSpringer072219Photo by USATSIDEADZONES had a great week in the home runs department, cranking out 17 of them. Teoscar Hernandez and George Springer were the key contributors, launching 4 HRs each. Springer rocked back-to-back home runs Monday, including this one on top of the rock pile, before hitting two more on back-to-back days later in the week. DEADZONES moved up the HRs standings for the 2nd straight week, going from 4th to 3rd.

Two Faced

Colt 45s‘ pitchers struck gold this week, but their batters struck out. They finished in first for the week in ERA by putting up a 2.75 ERA, while coming in 2nd in wins. The other half of Colt 45s’ roster came in dead last this week in batting average and home runs with a .214 BA and 4 HRs.

Washed Up

The 5th week of the season found SCHNOOKERS in 3rd place in the WHIP standings. Since then things have been…not so good. Their 1.79 WHIP this week caused them to drop two spots into 11th place. Coach Schneller can look to Trent Thornton and Andrew Heaney when passing out blame for the poor performance. The two combined to record a 2.65 WHIP in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Out to Lunch

SKINS’s bad season got a whole lot worse this week. They fell in behind all other teams, earning only 35.5 category points. SKINS wound up in last place for the week in RBIs and wins by putting up 24 RBIs and 1 win, and also finished 10th in batting average and home runs. They stayed in 10th place in the overall standings this week.

Up, Up, and Away

TEABAGGERS can happily forget their 11th place ranking in the WHIP standings ten weeks ago. Their 0.51 WHIP pushed them into 2nd place this week. Coaches Kent Johnson and Patrick Whelan’s squad had a three-man strike force with Tommy Milone, Brad Keller, and Justin Verlander combining for a 0.55 WHIP. J.V.’s performance this week ended a five game streak of failing to hit his projections.

Not Our Best

TreyMancini071519

Preferring to watch things from the dugout this week, MASTERBLASTERS posted a lowly a .209 BA. Coaches Colin Scoggins and keith mckinley will find no easy scapegoat. Trey Mancini was the worst of a ten man group of underperformers on MASTERBLASTERS, hitting .000. Mancini has visited the plate 11 times since returning from the break but has still failed to register a hit, striking out six times. MASTERBLASTERS fell from 4th to 6th in the batting average standings.

Hearing Footsteps

DEADWOODS stayed in 6th place overall this week, but they probably shouldn’t get too comfortable in that spot. They are in a precarious position in five separate categories- batting average, home runs, saves, wins, and ERA. Falling back in each of those spots would leave DEADWOODS with 45 category points overall, and likely put them in 7th place.

More Bad News

SPACE COWBOYS dropped in the overall standings for the 2nd straight week, falling from 3rd to 4th. They got poor results in three stat categories, including a one spot drop in ERA. Wade LeBlanc loomed large in the result, sporting a 13.50 ERA in 4 innings. LeBlanc’s performance this week definitively ended a three game streak of beating the experts’ projections.

Man of the Hour

CITY SLICKERS II are contenders for the title because of weeks like this. They racked up a league-high 72 category points this week. Coach DeMonte’s squad were tops in three different categories, coming in first in RBIs, stolen bases, and wins with 21 RBIs, 5 stolen bases, and 3 wins. As a result, CITY SLICKERS II are tops in the league overall.

Return to Relevance?

SALUKIS did their part to help other player’s batting statistics this week, putting up a 6.47 ERA. Coach Moynihan can blame the poor result on Glenn Sparkman, Daniel Norris, and Reynaldo Lopez, who together posted a 11.17 ERA in 19 and 1/3 innings. Lopez’s performance this week broke his four game streak of surpassing his projections. As a result, SALUKIS held on to their 12th place position in the ERA rankings, 0.92 ERA behind DEADZONES. SALUKIS have now crawled out of the basement and into 11th place overall.

That Will Leave a Mark

SHAMS weren’t messing around when it came to wins this week, posting 5 of them. Unfortunately, more good performances in that category are going to be harder to come by due to some bad personnel news. Jose Alvarado will be out for two to six weeks after leaving Saturday’s match-up with the Yankees due to a strained right oblique.

Next Time, I’ll Even Try

DEADZONES had a good week in the RBIs category this week despite some lineup imperfections. They produced the week’s 3rd best performance in the RBIs category without taking advantage of 7 RBIs from bench-rider Adalberto Mondesi. No other player riding the pine did better. DEADZONES moved up from 3rd to 2nd in the RBIs standings.

Climb Aboard

Jason Castro had been quiet in the batting average category since week eleven’s performance, but finally awoke from his slumber this week. Castro batted .545 while leading Colt 45s to a .294 BA overall. His batting average performance this week ended a four week streak of failing to perform at a league average level in that category. Colt 45s moved up the batting average standings for the 2nd straight week, going from 3rd to 2nd.

Low Turnout

CITY SLICKERS II put up a rare bad effort in the home runs category this week. They were more sluggish than slugging , combining for a measly three homeruns. They had a league low three players who contributed anything in that category. Dwight Smith was one of the eleven no shows. That caused CITY SLICKERS II to drop two spots in the HRs standings (now 4th).

He showed why he deserves his All-Star spot with this bases-clearing double in London Saturday, finishing with 7 RBI in the weekend series. ARMCHAIR SLUGGERS were now out of the basement, no longer dead last in the batting average standings.

Winning Smile

SHAMS haven’t had many good moments in the wins category, but sure got one this week. They dominated the wins category, notching 6 of them. That total set the curve this week for all teams. As a result, SHAMS are no longer the worst team in the wins standings.

Catch Me if You Can!

Photo by USATSISPACE COWBOYS are running away with the home runs category because of weeks like this one. They showed everybody how it’s done in the HRs department, clobbering 15 HRs. Nelson Cruz was the leader in that area for SPACE COWBOYS this week, banging out 3 HRs to go along with 10 RBIs and a .435 BA in 23 at bats. SPACE COWBOYS are now way ahead of CITY SLICKERS II, to the tune of 15 HRs.

Wrong Direction

DEADZONES embarrassed themselves in the WHIP category this week, recording a 1.92 WHIP. Aaron Sanchez and Brad Peacock put a big hurt on DEADZONES’s chances, tallying a 2.74 WHIP in 11 and 1/3 innings between them. Sanchez has recorded the worst WHIP of any starting player over the last three weeks. As a result, DEADZONES fell from 10th to 11th in the WHIP standings, 0.02 WHIP behind ARMCHAIR SLUGGERS. In addition, DEADZONES fell from 7th to 8th in the overall rankings.

One Step Forward, One Step Back

MASTERBLASTERS‘s bats were working overtime this week, unfortunately their performance on the mound couldn’t match it. They won the week in RBIs and home runs after putting up 50 RBIs and 18 HRs, while also finishing in 2nd in stolen bases. Meanwhile, MASTERBLASTERS’s pitchers wound up in 11th place in WHIP and ERA by posting a 1.68 WHIP and a 6.61 ERA.
