Shohei Ohtani might not pitch again for a long time, but with the way he’s been mashing at the plate, that might not matter much for his fantasy value.

Monster

He got to 30 home runs on Saturday, and probably reached that same number in impressive dugout celebrations. SCHNOOKERS stayed in 2nd place in the RBIs standings.

Don’t Even Try

SPACE COWBOYS are running away with the saves category because of weeks like this one. They had themselves a fine week in the saves category, logging 3 of them. Coach Denton’s squad relied completely on Edwin Diaz, who posted 3 saves to go along with a 0.00 WHIP in 3 appearances. SPACE COWBOYS are miles, well, 13 saves, ahead of DEADWOODS.

Same As It Ever Was

Another week goes by, and yet again MASTERBLASTERS does well in stolen bases while having issues in ERA. In the stolen bases category, they moved into 2nd place this week after putting up 6 stolen bases. Meanwhile, in the ERA category, their 6.02 ERA caused them to drop two spots into 12th place.

Bad Role Model

SMOKING GUNS embarrassed themselves in the ERA category this week, recording a 6.75 ERA. They were practicing their manners as they put every other team ahead of themselves in the ERA category. Heath Fillmyer was clearly the weakest link for Coach Quinn, Cavan Quinn and the gang as he sported a 23.14 ERA in 2 and 1/3 innings. No surprise then, SMOKING GUNS fell from 5th to 7th in the ERA standings, 0.01 ERA behind TEABAGGERS. Things weren’t better in other categories, as SMOKING GUNS fell from 8th to 10th in the overall rankings.

Just Chillin

SKINS remains in 7th place overall for the 6th straight week, despite some sub-par performances. They dropped in six stat categories, including moving down one spot in batting average. It will be difficult for Coaches Mark Hodgkins and Frank Grzegorzewski to fault any one player for the result. SKINS were brought down by eight underperformers, the worst of whom was Nicky Delmonico (a .077 BA). Unfortunately, more bad performances might be on tap for Delmonico, who has seen his batting average performance deteriorate in each of the last three weeks.

5 (4) SPACE COWBOYS

6 (7) MASTERBLASTERS

Keep on Keeping On

TylerWhite090218

Photo by USATSIColt 45s is one step closer to the top spot after another successful week (two in a row). They can attribute the move to good performances in two stat categories, including moving up one spot in RBIs. Tyler White was the key contributor, recording 10 RBIs to go along with 3 home runs and a .333 BA in 27 at bats. Those 10 RBIs were the most that any first baseman collected this week.

Team Effort

SMOKING GUNS stood out in the home runs category, launching 16 of them. A league-high nine different players contributed in that category, with Nomar Mazara (4 HRs) leading the way. Mazara’s performance this week ended a nine game streak of failing to hit his projections. SMOKING GUNS moved up the HRs standings for the 2nd straight week, going from 10th to 9th.

Turn Around Artist

MASTERBLASTERS started out totally lost in the batting average category. They batted .176, which was the worst of any team during the first three days of the week. They turned things WAY around however, hitting a league-leading .303 the rest of the way. The two stretches more or less canceled each other out, as MASTERBLASTERS wound up in 7th place for the week.

Let’s Try This Again

SPACE COWBOYS put up a rare bad effort in the WHIP category this week. They suffered a bad case of WHIPlash with a sorry 1.67 WHIP. That was the worst WHIP of any team this week. Nevertheless, SPACE COWBOYS held on to their 4th place position in the WHIP rankings.

No Show

SHAMS’s bad season got a whole lot worse this week. They were bringing up the rear, coming up with only 27 category points. SHAMS came in dead last this week in RBIs, home runs, and wins with 15 RBIs, 1 HR, and 0 wins. They stayed in 11th place in the overall standings.
